26 يونيو 2025

In line with the Shura Council’s commitment to strengthening community engagement and raising awareness about its national role, a group of students from the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Ibri visited the Council’s headquarters to learn about the powers and responsibilities of the Shura Council.
During the visit, the students received a briefing on the legislative and oversight powers granted to Council members under the Basic Statute of the State and the Law of the Council of Oman. The briefing also covered the work and mandates of the Council’s standing committees, the organization of regular sessions, and the legislative process for draft laws referred by the Council of Ministers, in addition to those proposed by the Council itself.
The visit included attendance of part of a live session held in the main deliberation hall, where students had the opportunity to observe the proceedings and follow the interventions of Council members during discussions with the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion.
The delegation also toured various facilities of the Council, including a visit to the Oman Council Library, and were introduced to the advanced technologies used in session management, support services, and monitoring tools.
This visit is part of the Shura Council’s ongoing efforts to enhance awareness among youth regarding the Council’s legislative role, and to familiarize them with the work of state institutions and their complementary roles in national decision-making and sustainable development.
