Shura Council inaugurates the fourth annual session

The Shura Council held its 1st sitting of the 4th annual session of the 9th term, presided over by H.E Khalid Bin Hilal Al Maawali, Chairman of the Council, in the presence of H.E Sheikh Ahmed Bin Muhammad Al Nadabi, Secretary General of the Council, and the Shura members.
During the meeting, they discussed the proposed amendments of Article (1) of the Law on combating money Laundering and Terrorism Financing.
The Shura Council then discussed several agreements, such as the draft cooperation agreement in the field of ports and maritime transport between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the draft cooperation agreement in air transport between the Sultanate of Oman and Canada and the Draft agreement on avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of tax evasion for income taxes between the Sultanate of Oman and Egypt.

The Shura Council also discussed the economic committee’s report on the reality of the mining sector, the draft of small and medium enterprises law, the draft law on income tax of high-income earners, the draft law on public debt, the draft Law on school education and the draft of higher education law.

The session witnessed the approval of a number of discussion requests, including a request for discussion on the phenomenon of commodity and geographical concentration of the trade balance of the Sultanate of Oman, in accordance with Article (68) of Oman Council Law: " It is by a majority of the members present, and one of the most prominent of these request".

The Shura Council informed the members about the state general budget for the fiscal year 2023 referred by the government.
