Shura to inaugurate its sitting next Sunday

According to the Royal directives of H.M. Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Shura Council is all set to inaugurate the 4th t Annual Session of 9th Term (2023- 2019) on next Sunday 6th  of November, 2022.
This is in accordance with Article (38) of the Law of the Council of Oman (7/2021), Majlis Oman shall have an ordinary session that is not less than eight months in a year, which the Sultan shall call to convene during the month of November every year. Article (41): The call for Majlis Oman to convene or adjourn its ordinary or extraordinary sessions shall be by royal order.
 
H.E. Ahmed Mohammed Al-Nadabi, Secretary-General of the Shura Council pointed out that the  First Session will discuss the work plans of the permanent committees for the Fourth Annual Session of the Ninth Term.

His Excellency the Secretary-General confirmed that the council's committees have recently had to work on defining its work plans, based on its terms of reference and topics of societal importance.
During the session, there will be discussion and approval the ministerial statements for the last Annual Session of the Ninth Term.

Al Nadabi said that the agenda of the First Session will include the reports,
Wish and Requests for Discussion submitted to the Council.

He further added that the Session witness the approval of a number of requests for discussion, in accordance with Article (68) of the Council of Oman Law No. (7/2021), the Council reviewed the requests for discussion submitted by their Excellencies the members, which are approved by the majority of the members present, and among the most prominent of these requests is a request for discussion on the phenomenon of commodity and geographical concentration of the trade balance of the Sultanate of Oman.

The session will discuss the Draft State budget for the fiscal year 2023 which was referred by the Government, and the Economic Committee has been lately studying according to a specific executive program and time.

The Secretary-General of the Council highlighted that the Council is completing its last role for the current Term amidst many changes taking place in the Sultanate of Oman and the world in various fields.

His Excellency also explained that the Ninth Term witnessed clear efforts during its past roles council's objectives and competencies in accordance with what was specified in the Basic Law of the State (6/2021) and the Law of the Council of Oman (7/2021).
The Shura Council approved (10) of the Draft Laws and agreements referred by the government, and (2) of the Draft Laws, which are: proposal to amend the law of private bodies working in the sports field issued by Royal Decree No. (81/2007), and a proposal for a Draft Law to repeal Article (32) of the Press and Publications Law.
The members also have activated follow-up tools, in  various fields, social, economic, and development aspirations in order to address them with the relevant authorities, including, (15) urgent statements, (89) Cognizance Request, (43) questions, (29) Wishes expressed, and (13) requests for discussion, of which (3) requests for discussion on various topics were discussed by a number of Ministers, the Council also discussed, through its sessions (5) ministerial statements.
The Secretary-General affirmed that the Council will continue its work by proposing and amending draft laws and activating follow-up tools during the Fourth Annual Session, which will culminate in many of the efforts made by the Council during the past Sessions (2019-2023), and this includes many national aspirations in line with Vision 2040.
